Tips, Notes and Special remark
  1. We spent about 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach the top. Attitude gain is about 200 m.
  2.  No risk of trap guns in the forest.
  3. There is a foot path but we didn’t find it.
  4. As it takes only half a day we coupled it with Kadigala (කාඩිගල) hike.
  5. Better carry a water bottle. No water source was found on our way up.
  6. Better do it early morning or evening as you will directly expose to heat in the  afternoon.
  7. It has no archaeological value. But something called Lenadora archaeological site is situated closer to Lenadora peak on the other side of A9 road.

Lenadora is a small pointed rock situated at base of Manikdena (මැණික්දෙන) Mountain. The area around Lenadora rock is also called Lenadora which comes across in Kandy-Jaffna road (A9) between Naula and Dambulla.
The day we climbed Manikdena, we decided to not to visit at Lenadora peak as it provides the similar view of Manikdena. But it’s pointed appearance noted at Pannampitiya (පන්නම්පිටිය) in a later day forced me to hike it. We calculated it as a half a day hike and it was correct.

After successful hike to Kadigala we have moved to Lenadora. According to Google map there was a small road goes towards the base of Lenadora. We have parked our bikes at the end of this road and got directions from locals. According to them there is a foot path to the peak closer to dry water stream. I should appreciate their positive words to encourage us.

It was a continuous hike through typical dry forest. First part of the hike under the shade and then we exposed to a bushy area where number of viewpoints are situated. Lenadora had few false peaks and though we thought we are at the destination but it wasn’t. At the end we have reached the top of Lenadora where nice view point with a good slab rock for camping is situated.

One side of the view is obstructed by giant Manikdena. We were able to view Arangala, Wilshire, number of peaks at upper border of Knuckles massif (Hinguruwatta peak, Karagahathenna, Gammaduwa, Hawarimana and Sandamadala etc), Gedaragalapathana / Wahigalapathana, Yakkuragala, Erawula Kanda, Galkoth Kanda, Dambulla rock, Beliya Kanda, Sigiriya etc.
We spent about half an hour on top of Lenadora to get photos and enjoy the view. Return journey was made in 45 minutes.
