We have noticed this mountain long time ago on our way to Knuckles peaks from Bambarella side and again we have noticed this on our way to Kotagaga falls from Rangala side. Hence we thought to climb this and collected some informations from the villagers.
As per they said there was a small Kovil near to the mountain and most of villagers climbed this over a decade ago. A boy called Kandasami was fallen from this mountain nearly 10 years ago and then this mountain named as his name.
However we contacted Raja (Guide at Thangappuwa) to get support to this hike. Raja also not climbed this mountain but we hired him to clear the path and for emergency situations. Because Raja know the behavior of this side and he it is good to have him to get more details from the villagers.
We depend 100% on our GPS maps and started our hike from Knuckles view holiday bungalow side. Once we came to the end of the gravel road we entered to the tea estate where the Kovil was situated. We walked further until we meet the water tank and directly entered to the thick forest. Raja was cleared the path as per our directions. Then we were able to have a track on our path. Within 2 hours we came to the base of the mountain and as we thought the mountain had 2 separate peaks. Then we climbed the first peak and that this the one we could see from Gomare side. Then we walked along the Mana bushes to the second peak which was visible to Kotagaga estate side. We observed a water spring and a small waterfall too. Further we got down to Gomare waterfalls and then we completed our journey from the same place where we began our hike.
