  • Flying Ravana, dual Zip Line at Ella

Ella is the most famous city among tourists due to the nature and the climate as well as for train journeys. I came to ella after few years as we were at Little Adam’s peak in 2014 and Blue water pond exploring in 2016. There are plenty of attractions and trails located in Ella and many of star class hotel and restaurants too. These days Ella is much famous for a new amazing activity called “Flying Ravana”. It is a mega Zip line which is owned by 98 Acres Hotels. They were started this adventure activity on 1st of February and as the Travel Lanka team we were invited to have this activity. It’s reminding me about the one of past experience Paramotoring and Hot Air Ballooning too.

Flying Ravana is Sri Lanka’s first ever zip-line, located amidst the luscious green estates of Ella. The two-wire zip-line stretches for more than half a kilometer, slides at 80kmph and offers a bird’s-eye view of the beautiful hills of the island. It is exclusively designed for adventure enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies who prefer a not so ordinary hillside experience. Swing through the trees with the greatest of ease on this adrenaline-charged longest zip line (550m) in South Asia! Guaranteeing an unsurpassed and unmatched level of adventure, right in the heart of Ella, Flying Ravana paves the way for a zip lining experience like no other. Possessing a team of outdoor adventure specialists from Sri Lanka and Europe who are well versed in the intricacies of zip lining, Flying Ravana is poised to escort you through a series of mesmeric backdrops via South Asia’s longest and fastest zip line system.

Mr Mattis is the manager of the site as who has over 12 year experience in Bunji Jumping and Zip lines at Netherland. All the equipment and installations are done by a qualified Netherland company and the Zip-lines were fully certified under European Rope Course Association (ERCA) for maximum passenger safety. We had the amazing experience over there for about 40 seconds which gave us the most beautiful bird’s eye view towards Ella rock and little adam’s peak. Site was situated at the middle of little adam’s peak and in front of giant Ella rock which giving a massive view via Greenlands and Ella- Wellawaya road through the Ella Gap. www.flyingravana.com is giving many details about the whole activity where you have to follow the safety instructions as well as there are professional instructors who have trained from Netherlands. We saw 98 acres hotels at a distance at sky.

Finally we wore a harness and a helmet and went to the stage where the event begins. Instructors gave us the necessary information about the journey and they always connected to the platform which is located at the other side. Once we got released from the Zip we were like flying over the sky. We can release our hands and we can see the 360 degree view over the area. Since the journey is about 550m longest we spent about 40 seconds and we were landed to the platform safety because they have auto break system for the landing which won’t involve any manual intervention. We thank Mr Eranda Abeyrathne for giving this amazing opportunity and Mr Mattis and Mr Dilum for the assistance over the site.
