  • Waterfalls Hunting at Wewelwatte Road

Wewelwatte road is one of my favorite route in my travel life, I went more than 10 times on that road specially before it gets carpeted. There are plenty of waterfalls located in that road. Here I visited these falls during my journeys and they are list down in order below. Kindly note that there are some more waterfalls at this route such as Anda Ella, Goxin Ella, Pareiyyan Ella, Madde Kanda Ella, Polwatta Amuna Ella, Halmehi Ella, Kunissan Ella, Dodam Gallena Ella, Demala Ella, Batahena Ella etc.

You can plan this waterfall journey as per the given GPS coordinates. Without telling any description you can create your own route from Bopath to Beruwatte falls by using below GPS coordinates. It will be more attractive if you can travel in this route soon after a heavy rain. And remember do not visit them during heavy rainy season as there are so many flash floods and even we cannot get in closer to them during that time as they are acting crazy.

The easiest way to join with Wewelwatte road is this. Turn to Malwala road from Kospalavinna and reach to this small beauty and after that you can directly join to the Malwala junction at Wewelwatte road. Malwala junction is the place where the road divides to Sri Palabaddala Siripa trail.

Beauty

This is too beautiful on rainy days

I was there in my first visit in 2013

Katu Kithul Ella – කටු කිතුල් ඇල්ල

This fall is situated few meters before the Dehena Ella and near to the Hal Ella. All of these three falls are situated on the way of the road. This fall is more beautiful on rainy days and be careful on those days due to rock falling.

Pandi Oya Ella – පාඬි ඔය ඇල්ල

This beautiful waterfall is a creation of Pandi Oya which flows under the main road. There are two main falls over there as Pandi Oya and Madanagiri Oya Fall. I never visited these two before but visited in 2018 up to the Pandioya. But we couldn’t go to Madanagiri due to some rocks were fallen liks a small landslide. Hence we took only 1-2 photos of it from the place where we saw it.
