Last year when we were at Wewala wewa we noted this lovely twin peak mountain which was also seen from the banks of Kandalama tank. So Chamara and myself reached Nikawatawana early morning and tried to find a suitable location to get on to the mountain ridge unfortunately the muslim community who were at the base of the mountain weren’t much aware of anything at all. Later we got to know that the road which went adjacent to “Kutti mahaththayas” house led to a forest trail. There was a faded trail which took us to the ridge of the mountain.
From the ridge it was bit of a complicated climb since there were many ups and downs plus few obstacles. Finding our way to the rocky summit was full of adventure and we enjoyed every bit of it. The main summit was a 360 degree panoramic point and didn’t have any shelter at all.
From the summit on could easily appreciate Nuwaragala side , Wewala, Ritgala, Kinihira kanda, Dimbulagala, Galkulama, Katupoth kanda, Minneriya, Pidurangala, Sigiriya, Nearby Bambaragala, Lenawa wewa, Erawugala, Gal kotha kanda, Kaludiya pokuna kanda, Ambokka, Menikdena, Yakkuragala, Beliya kanda, Karanampotha, Kandalama, Enderagala, Ibbankatuwa, Kala wewa, Ranawa kanda, Dambulu gala, Nika wewa kanda, Galagiriya, Ritigala, Kitulhitiyawa, Knuckles mountain range including Pathangala, Gombaniya, Yakkunge hela, Wamarapugala, Dumbanagala, Gerandigala, Lakegala etc
After hanging around a bit we got down and headed towards Pahala Erawula tank where we refreshed our selves prior to departing towards our homes.
