Every year we donate school items for rural school. We search a suitable school for our donation for this year. We got contact number of “Grama sevaka” in Nildandahinna area. We asked from him about rural school in their area. He mentioned that the name of “Galkadawala Vidyalaya” in Udamadura. Our aim was give our donation to the most suitable & most need place. Therefore  we plan to visit there & see the situation there. We plan to visit there on September 21st. On 20th midnight we start our journey & we reached to Nildandahinna via Walapane around 7.00 a.m. On that way we stopped at near “Victoria / Randenigala sanctuary” area around 6.00 a.m & we saw amazing views of sunrise.

“Grama Sevaka” friend joined with us in Nildandahinna & we start our journey to “Udamaduara”. We came up to the Yatimadura temple & from there road condition not good for cars. Therefore we parked our car near the temple & start our walk. Famous “Golumale” situated next to “Yatimadura” village & we have to walk another 4 -5 km’s from there to reach “Udamadura” village. The road through forest & it was in very bad condition. We walked very carefully in this road because most of the time wild elephants in this road. Threat from wild elephants highly effected to this area. After hard walk finally we reached to the school.  First we met the principle & get information from him. As per his information this school was the most rural school in Walapane area. Grade 1 to 5 there & after that they have to go another school in far away. Most important thing was students of this school won 1 place of the “Grade 5 Scholarship Examination” in Walapne area. From last 3 years they won the 1st place in the Walapane area. This was remarkable because they achieved this under lots of difficulties. But from the government side nothing happened for them. The principle introduced the grade 5 teacher & he was the main power behind this success. He gave his best to these poor kids & he teaches 6.00 a.m to 10.00 p.m in every week day. In cash minded society it was hard to believe & hard to imagine teacher doing such great job without financial benefit to him. He mentioned that he was received full self satisfaction from this & until his retirement he wish to work there. He was true hero & mentioned all these things for honor him. We spent long time there & came back to “Yatimadura”. Our “Grama sevaka” friend asked to visit “Yatimadura School” also. Then we went to that school & it also running under lots of difficulties. After having some time with them we went to see “Golumale” area.

First we went to nearby house & they prepared lunch for us. They offered us delicious “Maniock” with “lunu miris” & finally “plain tea “. We received very rich treat from this very poor & simple village house. After having heavy lunch we went to water stream & we had good time in there. Around 3.30 p.m we leave from there & started our return journey. We completed another grate trip with lots of happy memories.
